COUPLE WITH GOLDEN TOUCH RAISE £1,000 AT CELEBRATION
08:00 - 18 March 2008
A Couple who raised more than £1,000 when they held an auction and raffle at their golden wedding anniversary party
have donated the cash to a Derbyshire hospice.
Howard and Sarah Collis, of Rannoch Close, Allestree, helped organise
the event at the party at the British Legion Club in Allestree.
And the £1,020 they raised has now been given to Risley-based
Treetops Hospice, which provides specialist palliative care to patients with life-limiting illnesses, such as cancer and multiple
sclerosis.
Mrs Collis, 71, said: "Treetops cared for two friends of ours and their families.
"Everyone was so grateful
for the wonderful help they received we decided to make our golden wedding celebration a fund-raising event for Treetops."
The
event was organised by their son, Leigh, and his wife, Joanne, and was attended by their generous family and friends.
Kate
Shaw, head of the hospice's Ripple Appeal, said: "We are very grateful to Mr and Mrs Collis, their family and friends for
their generosity and we are delighted to have been able to share such a special occasion in this way."
