AN appeal by a Derbyshire hospice has been short-listed for an award.

The Treetops Hospice Ripple Appeal Challenge has been named as a finalist in the Communications Campaign category of the Third Sector Excellence Awards.

The appeal was launched with the aim of inspiring people to come up with ideas to raise money for an extension to the hospice.

The charity is just £300,000 short of its £1m target.

Lily Grant, Ripple Appeal fundraising assistant, said: "We're thrilled to have been short-listed. "The appeal has been a success due to the generosity of groups, clubs, organisations, individuals, companies, churches and schools."

The awards will be presented at a dinner at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on Thursday, September 24.
