POLICE CRICKET MATCH RAISES HOSPICE CASH
07:30, 18 August 2009

POLICE officers in Sandiacre and Risley held a cricket match and raised more than £150 for charity.

The match at Risley Cricket Ground, in Derby Road, saw local officers playing alongside members of the community.

Drinks and a barbecue were also enjoyed, with proceeds donated to Treetops Hospice's Ripple Appeal to build a new care centre for the hospice.

PC Chris Gray said: "This extension would help Treetops treat hundreds more patients every year.

"We raised £152.49 at the match and we're very pleased to be able to donate it to such a worthwhile cause."
