GOLFERS BRING IN £5,000 FOR TREETOPS

MEMBERS of a golf club have raised more than £5,000 for the Treetops Hospice Ripple Appeal.

The Erewash Valley Golf Club has held fund-raising activities throughout the last year for the hospice, based in Risley, near Ilkeston.

Staff want to build a new day centre for people with life-limiting illnesses.

Building work at the hospice will start before the end of the year. Members of the club visited the hospice to put a piece in the jigsaw charting the progress of the £300,000 final appeal.

Club captain Les Ross said: "It's been a real pleasure supporting such a deserving local cause.''
