PRISON OFFICERS RAISE £500
FOR TREETOPS
07:30, 13 October 2009
PRISON officers
have raised £500 for a Derbyshire charity.
Staff at HMP Lowdham Grange, near Nottingham,
held various events, including cake sales and a family fun day for all the staff.
The
money will go to Treetops Hospice, in Risley.
Leigh Motherwell, from the prison, said "We
had great fun as a team raising the money for such a worth while cause.
"We feel pleased
that we are able to contribute towards the much-needed new day care centre."
Treetops is trying to raise £1m for an extension to its centre through
its Ripple Appeal.
Lily Grant, Ripple Appeal fund-raiser, said: "It is great to have the
support of HMP Lowdham Grange – they are a fantastic team.
"We launched the Treetops
Hospice Ripple Appeal Final Challenge back in March and are on our last £183,000 left to raise. "Building
work will commence by the end of this year, so truly every pound counts."
