CARE CENTRE
07:30, 14 November 2009
A SUPERMARKET has donated £1,500
to help a hospice which is building a new day care centre.
Staff at Somerfield in Borrowash awarded
the grant to Treetops Hospice.
The money is part of a £100,000 donation made by the Somerfield
Staff Lottery to good causes around the UK.
Store manager Simon Kenan put forward the application
for Treetops' Ripple Appeal to be considered for the grant.
He said: "Most of our staff
are local residents so it is excellent to support our local hospice."
Kate Shaw, of the Ripple Appeal fund-raising team, said: "Building work
will start at the end of this month, so truly every pound counts."
The Ripple Appeal is raising
funds for the new centre at Treetops' Risley base.
Treetops provides specialist palliative
care to people with life-limiting illnesses such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease and end-stage heart
disease.
