ACCESSING THE SERVICE
What support is available?
Treetops Hospice offers regular one-to-one support and counselling to people aged over 18. The sessions take place at the bereavement centre above the Treetops Hospice shop in Sandiacre or, if it is difficult to access the centre, can take place in a client’s home. There is also the opportunity of joining a monthly support group. Occasionally, you may be directed to another, more appropriate, service.
Who offers bereavement support?
The service is managed by the Bereavement Support Service Manager who is an accredited counsellor with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). The support is provided by trained bereavement support volunteers and qualified counsellors.
The service is an organisational member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). As an organisational member of the BACP, we are bound by its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and subject to the Professional Conduct Procedure for the time being in force.
How long does the support last for?
The service is available for as long as is felt appropriate by the client and their support worker. The client is free to end the support at any time and can re-access the service in the future should they need to. Following a bereavement, there is no time limit to when someone can access the support service. We have had clients contact the service many years after the death of a loved-one.
How much does it cost?
There are no charges for this service but donations are gratefully appreciated and help make it possible for others to receive support in the future.
