Local charity Treetops Hospice Care is delighted to have been chosen as PMA’s official charity partner for two of its triathlons taking place later this year.

PMA Racing is the lead organiser of triathlons and duathlons in Derbyshire with event director Jim Cresswell having organised over fifty events in the past 20 years.

Participants in the Foremarke Hall Triathlon on Sunday 2 July and the 26th Derby Triathlon on Sunday 10 September 2017 are being encouraged to get sponsored for the local hospice which provides nursing care and emotional support for adults and their families across Derbyshire.

Treetops provide all its services for free to the local community and last year provided palliative care and support to over 1,700 people.

Raise money so that others can benefit

Treetops corporate fundraiser Kathryn Box explained how vital it is for the hospice to raise funds:

“Many people who sign up to the triathlons will have heard of Treetops, may have had friends or relatives benefit from our services – or even benefitted themselves.

“We’re asking participants to show their support for Treetops and with every step, cycle or stroke to raise sponsorship money so that others can benefit from our services.

“For every £25 raised, we can provide complementary therapy for a patient. £70 will provide a counselling session for an adult, child or family. £300 is the cost of an overnight shift for one of our Hospice at Home nurses. Every single penny makes a huge difference.”

Wonderful support in the local region

Triathlon veteran Jim said:

“We have been looking for the right charity partner and so we’re delighted to be working with Treetops who provide such wonderful support in the local region.”

Those interested in participating in the Foremarke Hall Triathlon or the 26th Derby Triathlon can find out more on the PMA Racing website.

Treetops services are available free of charge and include Support and Information, a Day Care unit based in Risley, Hospice at Home nurses and Therapeutic Services including counselling and complementary therapy.

Treetops was recently ranked 4th in the Sunday Times 100 Best Not-for-Profit Organisations to Work For and awarded three-star accreditation for extraordinary levels of staff engagement.
