Treetops, based in Risley, provides nursing care and emotional support for adults in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
In February 2008, Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks announced a new fundraising partnership with Hospice UK leading to 124 local hospices, including Treetops, directly benefiting over the last 10 years.
Activities by Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank employees for the local charity include:
- Volunteering in the hospice grounds and gardens gardening, weeding, clearing paths, painting benches and moving sheds
- Female employees taking part in the Treetops Starlight Strut (formerly known as the Moonlight Walk), the women’s-only night-time charity walk, as well as male employees marshaling the route
- Donations from an employee’s wedding day
- A team of non-cyclist staff completing the 172 mile Coast 2 Coast bike ride
- A staff team taking part in the annual Charity Golf Day
Across the country, over £6 million has been raised by Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank employees and hospices have benefitted from over 40,000 volunteer hours generated by the partnership.
The money raised by employees is matched by the company, with 50% of the additional funds going to the local hospice and the other 50% going to Hospice UK. So if a branch raises £100 for a local hospice, the hospice will receive £150 in total, while Hospice UK receives £50.
They are a remarkable team – thank you!
Jennifer Sheehy, head of fundraising at Treetops said:
“The relationship with Clydesdale and Yorkshire banks has been very special. For ten years they have been part of Treetops – supporting our events, volunteering at the hospice and raising a fantastic amount of money. They are a remarkable team – thank you!”
A wonderful achievement

They have used their passion and energy to show what can be done locally and nationally to help others
Tracey Bleakley, CEO of Hospice UK, said:
“We are so grateful for this partnership with Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks and all that it has achieved. People have given money, time and effort, but most of all they have used their passion and energy to show what can be done locally and nationally to help others.
“The world has changed a lot in 10 years, but thanks to this support for hospices from Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks, for many people the care they received at the end of their lives has been transformed.”
