Resources to help you raise funds for Treetops

We would like to start by thanking you for registering for the Colour Rush 2018! A fab, fun family event that helps to raise vital funds for your local hospice.

Treetops needs to raise almost 70% of its running costs – more than £3 million each year – through donations and events, and the Colour Rush is one of our biggest fundraising events on our calendar.

You’ll find everything you need below to help with your fundraising efforts. If you are doing anything fun or creative to help boost donations to your campaign please do let us know – we’d love to talk to you to see if we can feature you in our Colour Rush PR and social media campaigns!

Email our fundraising team at fundraising@treetopshospice.org.uk to let us know about your income generating initiatives!

We’ve made a few changes for 2018. We’re making lots of aspects of the Colour Rush digital this year because it helps us to put vital time, energy and funds back into organising the event, getting more Colour Rushers signed up and supporting those already registered.

We thank you for your understanding as we make these changes and ask that if you have any problems, to please reach out and let us help you make the Colour Rush a fantastic day for you and a successful fundraiser for Treetops!

Print Your Own Sponsorship Forms and Posters!

An exciting update for this year’s Colour Rush is our new free service that enables you to customise and print your own sponsorship forms, posters and social media graphics to help you collect donations and promote your participation in the Colour Rush.

Simply go to the link below to register for a free account, then fill in your details and print out your sponsorship forms and posters to let people know you are a Colour Rusher!

Here’s the link: https://treetopshospicecare.rightmarket.com

Why not put up a poster at work, at your gym or exercise class, school or college, or your local cafe or pub to let as many people as possible know about your wild and wonderful efforts as a Colour Rusher, and boost the donations to your JustGiving page!

Fundraising

JustGiving Page: JustGiving is one of the best and easiest ways to raise and collect funds from your sponsors!

Use the orange button below to set up your page and start contributing to our target of £10,000!

Customise and Update Your JustGiving Page!

JustGiving pages with the following features are much more successful at getting sponsorship and hitting their fundraising targets:

  • A profile picture – it’s easier for people to identify that they are donating to the right Debbie, Mark or ‘Team Smith’, so they’re more likely to donate!
  • A target – naturally encourages people to help you reach and smash it!
  • A page summary – telling your story, if only briefly, helps people to connect with your cause
  • Photos and updates – pages with 3+ updates are shown to be much more successful – people like to see your journey. Why not post pics of your friends and family on a training run, or the kids in some face paint “practicing” for the day? Or post updates on fundraising events you are doing at your workplace, school or university!

Check In On the Grand Total

See how your fundraising efforts are contributing to our overall fundraising target this year by checking in on our JustGiving Colour Rush Campaign Page, above!

Share your JustGiving page on your social media channels, and don’t forget to share your story too! Do you have a special connection with Treetops? Are you and your family running in crazy costumes? Have you embarked on a couch to 5k to get fit for the run? Engage your family and friends with your reasons and your journey – it encourages interest and donations!

Set Yourself a Target

Tell people how much you’re aiming to raise – again it helps motivate people to sponsor you and gives you a personal goal to reach for. If you did last year’s Colour Rush, why not try to beat your previous total?

Ask Your Employer for Support

Many companies will match donations made by their employees to registered charities. Check with your manager or HR department if this is something they would be willing to do. You could also try organising a pre-Rush fundraising event at work – see our Organise an Event section below for more ideas.

Organise an Event

You don’t have to raise money just through sponsorship alone –  you could organise a fun event or competition in the run up to the Colour Rush. This could be a pub quiz, a coffee morning or even a BBQ. Check out our A-Z of fundraising to get some ideas.

Collect Cash Pledges Straight Away

Most people will sponsor you as a total pledge and not per kilometer, so ask them to pay you there and then. It saves time and means that you can pay in your sponsorship money within days after the event

Make It Interesting For Your Sponsors

Organise a sweepstakes on your finishing time, or who from your group will be the most colourful at the end of the run – try to find a donated prize – all monies raised will be added towards your sponsorship target.

Team Sponsorship

Why not register as a team with your work colleagues, friends, neighbours or community group? Use the power of the group to boost your fundraising efforts!

Gift Aid

Encourage your tax paying sponsors to tick the Gift Aid box on the sponsor for. This means that for every pound given, we get an extra 25 pence from HMRC. This turns £10 into £12.50, or £100 into £125! This makes a huge difference and it doesn’t cost a thing!

To qualify for Gift Aid, we must have the person’s title, name, house number, full post code and date. Work addresses do not qualify. The sponsor must pay income tax, at least equal to the amount we will claim in the tax year.

If you are unable to continue through tiredness or injury, please inform the nearest marshall of your name. If there is no marshall nearby, please ring event organiser Mary Rose on the number above. We can arrange to collect you if you wish.

Please stay hydrated throughout before and throughout the run. Consider bringing your own bottle of water especially if it is a hot day.

Please wear suitable footwear for running, that you do not mind getting colour on. Although the colour is washable, we cannot guarantee that all the colour will wash completely out of all fabrics or shoes.
