Treetops Garden Gang welcomes you to NGS open garden

On Saturday 27 April, Treetops Hospice Care is once again welcoming visitors to look around its grounds in Risley as part of the popular National Garden Scheme.

The National Garden Scheme is the UK’s biggest annual celebration of gardening and invites garden owners to open their exceptional gardens to the public to raise money for good causes.

Treetops Hospice Care provides nursing care and emotional support for adults, their families and carers across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire free of charge.

On Saturday, from 10.30am to 3pm, the public will be able to visit the 12 acre site of woodland and grounds which boast thousands of spring flowering bulbs, raised wheelchair walkways and a new pond area.

Late last year, Treetops were announced as joint winners in the Erewash in Bloom Gardening Competition thanks to their dedicated volunteer gardeners. Erewash in Bloom is Erewash Borough Council’s annual gardening competition and the hospice was awarded joint first prize in the ‘Best Business, Commercial and Places of Worship’ category.

A team of volunteers work twice a week, every week of the year, to ensure the grounds look their best for patients, visitors and staff.

Admission is £3 per adult (free admission for children) and the entrance money goes to the National Garden Scheme which supports several national charities including Hospice UK.

Visitors to Treetops will be able to enjoy light refreshments and a homemade preserve and plant stall. Dogs on short leads are welcome.

Treetops services include Support and Information, Wellbeing Space, Hospice at Home nurses and Therapeutic Services including counselling, art therapy and complementary therapy.
