WHAT IS THE TREETOPS LOTTERY?

The Treetops Lottery is a weekly charity cash prize draw that provides a vital source of funding for Treetops Hospice. Since its inception in 1996, its sole purpose has been to raise money for the charity in order to help continue to provide care and support to people with life-limiting illnesses within the local community. All net profits from the sale of the lottery tickets go to Treetops Hospice and since 1996 the lottery has raised over £6 million for the charity.

WHAT CAN I WIN?

The Treetops Lottery gives supporters the chance to win one of 13 cash prizes each week.

The winning number for each prize is chosen at random by computer, from all the entries in that week’s draw.

The roll-over prize is chosen from all the numbers from the Lottery’s database. If an active lottery number is drawn then the prize is won. If an unallocated number is drawn, the value of the prize rolls over to the following week’s prize pot. This continues until a winner is found or the roll-over reaches £10,000, at which point it is guaranteed to be won.

HOW DO I BUY TICKETS?

Members of the Treetops Lottery are issued with a unique lottery number that remains theirs for as long as they wish to play. Each member can have up to 20 unique lottery numbers.  As a member you pay a stake of £1 per unique membership number per weekly draw and this allows your number to be entered into the draw for that week.

The monthly costs look a little odd but there are no hidden costs.
The amount is calculated as:

52 weeks x £1 ticket       = £4.34 per month
        12 months
(1 number is £4.34 a month, 2 numbers are £8.68 a month, and so on).

Players can also choose to purchase one-off lottery tickets from any Treetops Hospice shop. Each of these tickets has a unique lottery number printed onto it and these numbers are entered into the draw for that week along with the paid membership numbers. Find your nearest retail outlet here.

You can also purchase one-off lottery tickets online here. Whether you want to top up for a bigger chance to win this week or you want a chance to play without signing up to a membership, one-off tickets are a great, easy way to play.

Treetops Lottery entries may be purchased via cash (One-off ticket purchases in shops), cheque, standing order, direct debit or debit card (minimum payments apply).

HOW WILL I KNOW IF I WIN?

Each Friday the lucky winners are chosen by a computerised random number generator and if a Treetops Lottery member wins, the winner will be informed of their windfall either by telephone or by post. If the winning number is that of a one-off ticket purchased from one of our retail outlets then it is the responsibility of the ticket holder to check the results of the draw and to submit a claim within 6 months of the winning draw date. Players can submit a claim online here. The winning numbers are published on this website and are also broadcast through social media, local radio and our email newsletter. The winning numbers are also displayed in our Treetops Hospice shops.

WHAT IS THE LIKELIHOOD OF MY NUMBER WINNING?

The likelihood of winning each week depends on how many entries are in the draw. As an average this year (2022-23), there are 13,400 entries in the draw each week. With this amount of entries, your number would have a 1 in 1117 chance of winning any of the 12 guaranteed cash prizes.

The 2nd prize is a rollover which goes up £200 every week it is not won. There are 20 unallocated numbers for every 1 paid for, which gives your number a 1 in 250,000 chance to win the rollover (assuming 12,500 entries again). If it reaches £10,000 it is guaranteed to be won and therefore the chance is the same as the rest of the prize pool above.

CAN I CHOOSE MY LOTTERY NUMBERS?

Your lottery number is generated randomly by computer and will remain yours for the length of your Treetops Lottery membership. It is not possible to select your own number.

HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE TO ENTER?

The law states that you must be 18 or over to purchase a lottery ticket and in accordance with our licence we must abide by this law.

HOW MANY LOTTERY ENTRIES CAN I BUY?

As part of our commitment to responsible gambling, we restrict the purchase of lottery entries to a maximum of 20 per person per weekly draw.

CAN TREETOPS HOSPICE  CLAIM GIFT AID ON MY LOTTERY TICKET PURCHASE?

Unfortunately, as the money collected is for an entry into a lottery / raffle it does not qualify for Gift Aid. However, winners can choose to donate their winnings back to Treetops Hospice by writing us a cheque and signing a gift aid declaration form, we can then claim gift aid on this donation.

HOW MUCH OF EACH £1 GOES TO TREETOPS HOSPICE?

In the last financial year (2022-23), Treetops Lottery received £730,388 in income with 64% donated to Treetops Hospice; 10% went into the prize fund, and 26% in administrative costs and recruitment.

I HAVE LOST / FORGOTTEN MY TREETOPS LOTTERY NUMBER, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Not a problem, please send an email to lottery@treetopshospice.org.uk with your full name and address requesting a reminder of your lottery number and we will happily email them to you. Alternatively please call us on 0115 939 9339.

WHAT IS RESPONSIBLE GAMBLING?

Responsible gambling means staying in control of how much time and money we spend on gambling. HOW CAN I SELF-EXCLUDE MYSELF?

If you feel the need to take a break from gambling for whatever reason you can self-exclude yourself from Treetops Lottery for a minimum of 6 months. Please complete our self-exclusion form here.

HOW CAN I MAKE A COMPLAINT?

I HAVE MOVED HOUSE, DO I HAVE TO INFORM YOU?

If you are a Treetops Lottery member and any of the contact details we have for you such as your name, address or telephone number change, please inform us at your earliest convenience so that we can update our database. If you are a member and a lucky winner in one of the draws we like to call you to let you know and we will post your winners cheque to your registered address. You can inform us of a change of details by calling our office on 0115 939 9339 or emailing us at lottery@treetopshospice.org.uk

WHAT DO I DO IF I CHANGE BANKS?

If you would like to change the bank account that your standing order / direct debit is paid from you will first need to get in contact with your bank to see if your existing out-going payments are automatically switched to your new account. If this does not apply you will need to contact the Treetops Lottery office to request a new standing order form or to inform us of the new direct debit details. If you pay by Standing Order you will also need to contact your previous bank in order to cancel the existing standing order.

HOW DO I CANCEL MY TREETOPS LOTTERY MEMBERSHIP?

If for any reason you decide that you do not wish to continue with your Treetops Lottery membership please Contact Us to let us know. If you pay for your membership by standing order you will need to get in touch with your bank to ask them to stop the payments from being sent to us. We have no control over standing order payments as it is an agreement between yourself and your bank therefore we cannot be held responsible for any payments sent to us after your cancellation date. You will continue to be entered into any draws whilst you have credits remaining on your account.

SUPER DRAW FAQ

Is the Super Draw different to the weekly Lottery draw?

The Super Draw is an annual bumper draw giving players a chance to win 1 of 19 cash prizes. The prize money has been increased for our weekly Lottery for this Super Draw.

I already play the weekly Lottery, do I need to enter again to be entered into the Super Draw?

Your weekly Lottery entries will be entered automatically into the Super Draw. However, you can increase your chances of winning and increase your support by purchasing more tickets in the Super Draw.

How do I receive my Super Draw tickets?

If you purchase your ticket(s) online you will receive an email with your ticket number(s).

If you have received a Super Draw pack in the post this will include your ticket numbers. However, to make sure that your postal entries are entered into the draw, you will need to return your entries and payment back to us by post before the deadline date.

How does the Rapid Reply Draw work?

The Rapid Reply Draw is a bonus draw. To be entered into the Rapid Reply Draw to win one of ten £10 Amazon Vouchers, you must purchase tickets before 17 February 2024. Winners of the Rapid Reply Draw will be contacted with their voucher.

When do entries into the Super Draw close?

The deadline for postal entries is 25 March 2024, any entries received after this date will not be entered into the draw and any payments will be taken as a donation to Treetops Hospice. We cannot accept responsibility for delays in the postal system so please make sure that you send your entries back in plenty of time to make sure that your tickets are entered into the draw.

Online entries for the Super Draw will close on 25 March 2024 at 23:59. Any online entries received after this time will be entered into the next Treetops Lottery draw which will take place on Friday 29 March 2024.

Can you claim Gift Aid on my ticket purchase?

Unfortunately not, lottery and Super Draw tickets do not qualify for Gift Aid.

However, if you make a donation with your purchase, we can claim Gift Aid on this donation. If you are eligible for and complete the Gift Aid declaration on the entry form, we can claim Gift Aid on your behalf. Please read the declaration regarding Gift Aid carefully to ensure you are eligible.
