Treetops Hospice Care, based in Risley, is offering to collect people’s Christmas trees, for the fifth year running, in return for a donation towards its services in the community.
The charity, which directly supports more than 1,800 patients across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, has to raise more than £4.3m every year to run – of which 70% comes from charitable donations and fundraising.
Therefore, it is schemes like Treecycling that allow Treetops to continue providing its valuable nursing care and emotional support to adults and their families.
And it has already proven popular – raising a whopping £5,782 earlier this year after collecting 435 Christmas trees (10 tonnes) across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
Residents must book their collection and make their donation by Monday, January 4 – although, Treetops recommends booking sooner rather than later in the event they reach capacity. Trees will be collected in the New Year.

“We are super excited that Treecycling is returning for another year – and hope it will be just as popular, if not more so, than last year.
“We already have volunteers lined up and waiting to collect old real trees, but we are still on the hunt for transport. If you have a large van and are happy to drive it – and maybe even bring a colleague or friend too – then we want to hear from you.”
The selfless team of volunteers will then collect your trees from outside your home on either January 7, 8, 11, 12 or 13.

Treetops provides nursing care and emotional support for adults with life-limiting conditions such as cancer, motor neurone disease and heart and respiratory conditions, as well as those who’ve been bereaved and their families. Last year, Hospice at Home nurses provided over 28,000 hours of care across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
