The Christmas Treecycling scheme will run from Monday 7 to Friday 11 January. For a recommended donation of £10 or more, Treetops volunteers will collect trees from front gates or driveways and take them away.
Treetops, based in Risley, provides nursing care and emotional support for adults in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
Residents (from selected postcode areas) can register their collection online. Registration closes at noon on Wednesday 2 January.
Save time, mess and stress and raise money for a great cause
It’s a real win-win situation for everyone as corporate partnership fundraiser, Laura McWha, explained:
“After Christmas, people always wonder what to do with their trees and so rather than drag them down to the local tip or dump them at the bottom of a garden for months, why not let us do all the hard work for you in return for a donation. We’ll save people time, mess and stress and raise money for a great cause.”

For the second year running year, Treetops is being supported by Ward Recycling who will be recycling the trees at their depots.
Donald Ward, head of technical and recycling at Ward said:
“Treetops provides fantastic care and support for many families in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire and as a local, family run business we are pleased to be able to support the Christmas Treecycling scheme again this year.
“By working together, Ward is able to support Treetops in raising much needed funds, while encouraging people to recycle. As an added incentive this year, for every tonne of trees that are recycled, we’ll donate an extra £10 to Treetops. So .
“We want to educate people about the benefits of recycling and ensure that Christmas trees are 100% recycled rather than ending up in people’s wheelie bins and going to landfill.”
Incredibly pleased to help
Enterprise Rent-A-Car are once again volunteering their staff in tree collections and have donated £1000 towards the hospice as Ben Boot, vehicle acquisitions manager for East Midlands and East Anglia, explained:
“We are extremely proud to be involved with Treetops Hospice Care’s Christmas Treecycling project again for 2019. We have enjoyed a very happy partnership with the hospice for more than five years. This year, once again, our involvement goes beyond a monetary donation, as eight of our employees are volunteering their time to collect Christmas trees for recycling.
“Our long-standing support for Treetops is partly because our staff members have close ties with the charity, as they have provided care and emotional support to many of our employees’ families and friends. The hospice relies on volunteers and donations and we are incredibly pleased to help them continue to carry out the vital work that they do.”
Volunteers from TSB, Virgin Media, Dains Accountants and Zing Furniture will be joining the Treetops and Enterprise Rent-A-Car teams collecting trees in vans on loan from Sandicliffe.
Treetops Hospice Care services include Support and Information, a Day Care Unit, Hospice at Home nurses and Therapeutic Services including counselling, art therapy and complementary therapy.
