Patients and visitors to Treetops Hospice Care can enjoy a range of comfortable, new seating thanks to a generous donation by the Morrisons Foundation.

The Foundation donated £25,760 to the hospice based in Risley which provides nursing care and emotional support for adults with life limiting conditions living in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

The new seating, which includes specialist chairs, can be found in Treetops new Wellbeing Space where patients and their families can access a wide variety of bespoke services to maintain their physical and mental health and manage their conditions.

Amongst the new services is a drop in Wellbeing Café, open on Thursdays 10am-3.30pm, for anyone with a life limiting illness or bereaved, and their family members, carers and friends. Visitors have the opportunity to chat informally to Treetops staff and volunteers and receive free tea, coffee and cake.

A really welcoming environment for people accessing our services

Alison Hembrow, Wellbeing Space manager said:

“We’re incredibly grateful for this donation from the Morrisons Foundation. The new seating is designed to offer good postural support and pressure relief – which is incredibly important for our guests and patients – as well as being a modern, fresh design.

“It makes our Wellbeing Space look bright and fresh and a really welcoming environment for people accessing our services.

“Our new programme means that we will use all of the Wellbeing Space for a variety of activities, some of which will be happening simultaneously, so the new furniture offers us the versatility to do this.”

A long lasting impact to the excellent care the charity provides

Adrian Horsley from the Morrisons Foundation added:

“Morrisons Foundation supports charities that make a positive difference in local communities and we were delighted to provide this donation to Treetops Hospice Care.

“The hospice does such great work to support their patients, friends and family. I am very proud that we were able to make a long lasting impact to the excellent care the charity provides to local people.”

Treetops services include Support and Information, Wellbeing Space, Hospice at Home nurses and Therapeutic Services including counselling, art therapy and complementary therapy.

The Morrisons Foundation makes grant awards to registered charities and provides match funding for Morrisons colleagues. Since its launch, the Foundation has donated more than £25 million to registered charities.
