The pilot project is funded by Derbyshire County Council in Erewash, South Derbyshire and High Peak areas with Treetops leading the pilot project running in Erewash and South Derbyshire. Age UK will lead the project in High Peak.
The project will run until the end of March 2019 and Treetops is working in partnership with Erewash Voluntary Action and South Derbyshire CVS.
The project includes:
- A befriending service in Erewash and South Derbyshire that reaches out to people with a life limiting illness, to offer companionship, reduce isolation and assist them to gain the appropriate support to meet their needs
- The Befriender Role Descriptions can be found here:

- Engaging businesses to be more aware of the impact life limiting illnesses have on their employees and families, and encourage them to commit to becoming more supportive and compassionate
- Events that help start conversations about dying, death, bereavement and loss whilst removing some of the barriers people face when doing this.
