The Awards celebrate the hard work and dedication of carers from across Derby and Derbyshire.
Touched to be nominated
Dawn Allen, from Oakwood, was presented with the Palliative Carer of the Year Award, nominated for her wonderful caring and unique nature. Dawn has been a Hospice at Home nurse at Treetops since 2015:
“I was very touched to be nominated and shocked and I can’t quite believe it!
“I’m really passionate about palliative care and Treetops are lovely to work for. When you walk through the doors here, you really do feel that warmth and love – it’s the nicest place I’ve ever worked.”
Goes above and beyond for her patients
Carol Hopkins, Hospice at Home Manager said:
“When visiting a family for the first time, Dawn is excellent at starting to build a close relationship with the patient and their family from the outset, developing their trust and explaining what services we offer and the high standards that we set.
“She goes above and beyond for her patients and often stays after her shift has ended to ensure that her work is completed to a high standard.
“Dawn understands the importance of managing symptoms quickly and efficiently and calls out to the out of hour’s service to ensure that her patients are settled and receive the prompt care that they deserve.
A pleasure having her as part of our team
