Our new Creative Writing Group will be a gathering of people who are interested in using creative writing to express their thoughts and feelings on the page.

The sessions will last for 90 minutes and will be facilitated by Mandy, a volunteer who has a wealth of experience in creative writing. There will be a maximum of 12 people per session.

Anyone is welcome to join, whether you want to try something new or continue a longstanding passion. So please share this new creative writing group with friends, clients and networks.

The group will run fortnightly starting on Friday 18 June at 10am via Zoom.

Here are a few questions and answers about the creative writing group

What is creative writing?

Whatever you want it to be. The pen or screen is your space to allow yourself to splash out with words. There are no rigid expectations for this group, apart from the freedom to share thoughts and feelings in a safe space, to honour each other in what we create and what we choose to share.

Do I need to be a creative writer?

No. You do not need to have experience of writing creatively, although we do this every time we consider typing words onto a screen or writing words on a page. This will be a supportive group where we will consider aspects of life, how we might allow ourselves to find words and discover new ways of expressing those words.

Do I need to understand the theory of writing?

No. It is not a study group on literature, nor grammar, nor a literary gathering of academic writers.

Do I need to be confident in my writing abilities?

Absolutely not. The joy of creative writing is that whatever we write is right for us. The aim of this group is that we spend some time discussing aspects of life, think about how we want to express ourselves on paper, then we choose if we want to share those words with others. Mainly we write for ourselves. A time for reflection, giving ourselves time to pause, time to reflect experience and the option of sharing with others what we have discovered in our writing.
