An arts-based workshop for people living with dementia

The No Barriers Here workshop is an arts-based approach to Advance Care Planning (care that we need as we age, become unwell and towards the end of life).

The Aim

“No Barriers” is an arts-based course which allows you to think about, share, and express through artmaking what you consider important in your life right now and also what matters at the end of your life.

The aim is for you to start thinking about and making your own Advance Care Plan with the help of those around you. It can initially seem like a difficult thing to think about, and many people do not know where to start; once you have started the process and you have completed your Advance Care Plan it doesn’t mean it cannot be changed and reviewed as you change, and your thoughts/wishes do.

What does taking part involve?

You will have the opportunity to explore your own wants and wishes for your future care – this is important regardless of age or health. Three workshops, facilitated by trained No Barriers Here facilitators from the Dementia Palliative Care Team, working in conjunction with the Treetops Wellbeing team, will be held in the wellbeing space, which different topics and themes will be explored.
