Otherwise known as Catherine Collins, Kylie Brennan and Emma Middleton, the volunteer leaders from the Stapleford Brownies are joining hundreds of other women taking part in the Starlight Strut starting at 10pm at the University of Derby.
The 5k and 10k sponsored walk is just one of many ways in which the twenty-five brownies and their leaders have pledged to support the local charity which provides nursing care and emotional support for adults, their families and carers across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
We’re looking forward to making the girls proud!
Brown Owl, Catherine Collins, 49yrs from Stapleford explained:
“Our theme this year is helping others and the community and we wanted to try and help local organisations. Some of our girls’ families have personal links with the hospice and we know it’s a really worthwhile cause.
“When we decided to support Treetops as a unit, we pledged as leaders that whatever we asked the girls to do, we would do as well, so signing up to the Starlight Strut made complete sense. We’re looking forward to making the girls proud!”
The Starlight Strut is taking place on Friday 19 May starting at 10pm at the University of Derby. Those interested in taking part in the 5k or 10k sponsored walk through Derby city can register online.
Treetops Hospice Care services include Support and Information, a Day Care unit, Hospice at Home nurses and Therapeutic Services including counselling and complementary therapy. All services are provided free of charge and last year the hospice supported over 1,750 local people.
