Ilkeston Brass Band and the Rockabillies Choir are the star attractions at this year’s Picnic Proms taking place at Treetops Hospice Care on Sunday 30 June.

People are invited to bring a picnic, wine and something to sit on, and enjoy a relaxing night of music at the hospice in Risley, which provides nursing care and emotional support for adults with life limiting conditions.

This is the second year that Treetops volunteer, Jacqui Marshall, 72, from Sandiacre, has organised the event. Proceeds from tickets sales, raffle and tombola will go to the charity and its services, all of which are provided free of charge to the local community.

A big family party

Jacqui explained:

“It’s like a big family party as casual or formal as you want. Some guests bring tables and chairs and others just bring a blanket.

“You can sit wherever you like and there’s a real mix of music. It’s a lovely friendly event and everyone’s welcome!

“Treetops is fortunate to have 12.5 acres of beautiful gardens and grounds and a concert is an ideal way for people to be able to enjoy them. The weather forecast looks promising so we hope it’ll be a fantastic evening.”

The Picnic Proms take place on Sunday 30 June, 5-8.30pm at Treetops, Derby Road, Risley, Derby DE72 3SS.

Car parking is available. Hot drinks and a raffle are available on the night.

Pre-booked tickets are available for £8 and can be purchased online.

Tickets purchased on the night cost £10. Under 12s are free.

Treetops services include Support and Information, Wellbeing Space, Hospice at Home nurses and Therapeutic Services including counselling, art therapy and complementary therapy.
