Julia, 42, from Thulston and Justine, 46, from Arnold, will be amongst hundreds of other women from across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire taking part in the sponsored ladies-only walk.

Julia, the Premier League’s education manager, explained why they decided to sign up:
“I first came across Treetops when I chatted to a lottery canvasser who came to our door and I heard just how much the charity helps local people.
“Every Christmas, each staff member can nominate a chosen charity and the Premier League makes a donation to it. This year I chose Treetops and then when Justine and I signed up the Starlight Strut, they donated another £350 towards our walk!
“It costs just over £300 for Treetops to provide a Hospice at Home nurse to care for someone in their last days at home so it’s really lovely to know that we’ve helped to provide that nurse as we go round the route.”

Justine, education administrator, added:
“I’ve had breast cancer myself and I thank my lucky stars that I don’t need the Treetops services but I know of friends that do.
“This is my way to get out there and do something to make a difference – and be thankful for life.”
Treetops, based in Risley, provides nursing care and emotional support for adults with life-limiting conditions such as cancer, motor neurone disease and multiple sclerosis across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. Treetops services include Support and Information, a Day Care unit, Hospice at Home nurses and Therapeutic Services including counselling and complementary therapy.
The Starlight Strut takes place on Friday 19 May starting at 10pm at the University of Derby. Those interested in taking part in the 5k or 10k sponsored walk through Derby city can register online until noon on Wednesday 17 May.
