Volunteers are very valuable to us here at Treetops Hospice Care. We regularly hold celebration events where we honour our volunteers with long service awards.

Meet some of our volunteers:

Lisa: “Treetops is a great place to volunteer”

Lisa Patrick has been volunteering at Treetops Hospice Care for almost two years. Lisa, who is married and lives in Long Eaton, helps in Day CarLisa Patricke, reception and also volunteers at our fundraising events.

“I saw on the Treetops website that they were looking for volunteers to do various roles, after a telephone call and a meeting, I attended the initial training course for new care volunteers, and decided that this was exactly what I had been looking for. Treetops is a great place to volunteer. It is friendly and welcoming to everyone

“Whilst volunteering in Day Care, I help with a range of tasks which include making drinks and snacks helping them in many ways and also, of course, by chatting to them.

“Volunteering at Treetops is a great way to meet new people. Our fundraising events are brilliant, and bring everyone together, we have a great time.”

Roy: “It helps me in many ways”

Roy Harrison - Volunteer DriverRoy Harrison is a volunteer driver for Treetops, transporting guests to and from the Day Care Unit in Risley.

“It’s rewarding to hear from the guests about their day at Treetops. Some talk about the lovely lunch they have had, others about the activities.

“The volunteer role has given me a good balance in my life. I have met some wonderful people – guests, Treetops staff and other volunteers.

“It’s a good feeling knowing that I am doing something useful with my spare time to help others. It also helps me in many ways, not least getting out and meeting people.”
