Treetops, based in Risley, provides nursing care and emotional support for adults, their families and carers across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
Claire, 44yrs from Borrowash, has worked at Treetops for two and a half years as she explained:
I do love my job!
“I do different treatments for people dealing with life-limiting illness or bereavement – aromatherapy massage, Reiki, Indian head massage and Reflexology.
“Sometimes people come knowing what they want or we can advise what we think would be best for them. A lot of people have never had treatments before so it’s quite a new experience.
“Often carers find it hard at home looking after somebody full time so complementary therapy can be for relaxation and a bit of time out, some stress relief. They might not be sleeping very well because their partner needs them in the night. If their partner is here at Treetops, they know they’re in a safe environment and they can relax and know they don’t have to worry about them. .
“My clients tell me they feel relaxed and the treatments help with their symptoms, they are sleeping better and have a sense of well-being – just a nicer feeling at times when it’s not so great for them. I do love my job!”
I’m really excited
Claire is choosing to fundraise for the MS Society as she takes part in the 26-mile event across London:
“I chose to run for the MS Society as it’s a cause close to my heart and some of my clients here at Treetops have Multiple Sclerosis and they respond well to touch and massage – it can relax symptoms and ease tension.
“I won the London Marathon place on a ballot and it means everything to me to run – I’m really excited, bring it on! It’s been a hard physical journey to this point but I am ready. I just want to enjoy it and then wear my medal with pride.”

Treetops Hospice Care services include Support and Information, a Day Care Unit, Hospice at Home nurses and Therapeutic Services including counselling, art therapy and complementary therapy.
