Treetops nurse with long service award

We're delighted to celebrate over a hundred volunteer and staff long service awards – totalling an incredible 1,225 years of service.

Amongst those receiving an award for 25 years of service was Hospice at Home registered nurse Julie Ludlam, from Derby.  Julie says it is a ‘privilege’ to be let into the lives of patients and families during such a difficult time.

A pleasure to support patients and families

“As a Treetops Hospice at Home nurse, I see my role as a real privilege as I am let into the lives of patients and their families at such a difficult time. You can become one of the family. I don’t see it as a job; it’s a pleasure to support patients and families both physically and emotionally.
“For the patient, we can give physical and emotional support, manage their symptoms and liaise with everyone around them. For families and carers, I can provide some respite but I also listen to them, offer advice and help them understand what’s happening.

I love my job and I think of Treetops as a little family. We get a lot of support from each other and the coordination team, and I’m proud to be a part of this incredible team.

Honoured to receive this award

“I’m honoured to recieve this award; it’s amazing and it really doesn’t seem like 25 years since I joined Treetops . The time has gone by so quickly and I hope that I’ve helped to make a difference.”
This was the first time since the start of the pandemic that we have been able to hold our Long Service Awards in person.  The annual event is for our staff and volunteers who have reached 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35-year milestones. Those who reached these and other 5 and 10 year milestones during 2020 were also acknowledged at the event.
