Staff and volunteers at local charity Treetops Hospice Care are counting down the days until their giant inflatable obstacle challenge – KAPOW! – comes to Markeaton Park on Sunday 1 September.

Over 300 adults and children have now registered to run, jog or walk around the KAPOW! Superhero Challenge – the only event of its kind taking place in the East Midlands this summer.

The course features ten obstacles along a 5km route including the Mangle, a 12m long Holy Cow Maze, the Transformer and a foam station.

The fun-filled, sponsored event will raise vital funds for Treetops Hospice Care which provides nursing care and emotional support for adults with life limiting conditions living in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

Fantastic way to end the long summer holidays

Lorraine Ray, Treetops events fundraising lead said:

“With just days to go until KAPOW! we’re urging people to pre-book their tickets to join us for this incredibly exciting event.

“Fancy dress is optional but we’d love to see a whole bunch of people take part dressed as super heroes and really get behind the event.

“It’s a fantastic way to end the long summer holidays so grab your family and friends and come and join us on Sunday 1 September – you won’t want to miss out!

KAPOW! registration is now open. Online tickets are available until midnight on Wednesday 28 August – adults £30, children £25 and groups of four £95. Participants must be at least 1.2m tall to take part. After this time, participants must pay on the day at increased prices.

KAPOW! sponsors include Western Power Distribution, Ward Recycling and Pop! Studios.

Treetops services include Support and Information, Wellbeing Space, Hospice at Home nurses and Therapeutic Services including counselling, art therapy and complementary therapy.
