Treetops, based in Risley, provides nursing care and emotional support for adults with life limiting conditions living in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. This year’s Starlight Strut takes place on Friday 17 May, a 5km and 10km sponsored walk starting from and returning to intu Derby.
Stratstone MINI Derby and Derby’s Finest kick-start their support with a special Fizz and Shopping Evening on Thursday 4 April for local business women to network, shop and sign up to the event. The evening will also see the unveiling of a Starlight Strut branded Mini which has been specially designed to promote the sponsored walk over the coming weeks.
The Starlight Strut has raised over £400,000 for the hospice since it began ten years ago. In previous years, the event (also known as the Moonlight Walk) has been for women only but this year has been opened up to men and children as well.

A fun way to raise awareness of the Starlight Strut

“It’s brilliant to be working in partnership with Stratstone MINI Derby, Derby’s Finest and intu Derby this year and the Fizz and Shopping Evening will be a fun way to raise awareness of the Starlight Strut.
“As a registered charity, Treetops needs to raise over £3million each year and we can only achieve this with the support of the local community and businesses.
“We hope as many people as possible will sign up to this year’s Starlight Strut and enjoy a carnival-themed, fun event.”
The Fizz and Shopping Evening takes place at Stratstone MINI Derby on Sir Frank Whittle Road from 5.30-9pm. Attendees will receive a goodie bag and opportunity to enter a mega MINI prize raffle. All proceeds from the evening will be donated to Treetops.
Want to see the Starlight Strut MINI for yourself?
The Starlight Strut branded MINI will be featured at several events in the run up to, and including, the walk on Friday 17 May itself.
It can be viewed at intu Derby from 10am to 4pm on Friday 26 April and Friday 3 May and from 10am through to the Starlight Strut event itself on Friday 17 May.
People can register for the Starlight Strut for £10 online here or by attending one of the intu Derby events.
Treetops services include Support and Information, Wellbeing Space, Hospice at Home nurses and Therapeutic Services including counselling, art therapy and complementary therapy.
