Three ladies with running medals smiling

Three members of our Hospice at Home nursing team pounded the pavements for us when the Derby 10k recently returned to the city.

Rachel Kirkpatrick and Teresa Smith, of Ilkeston, and Alison Cantwell, of Melbourne, are part of our Hospice at Home co-ordination team. They joined thousands of runners in the recent Derby 10k.
Our co-ordination team ensures the service runs smoothly by reviewing patients, triaging their needs, booking overnight nursing shifts and ensuring our nurses have all they need to provide excellent care.
The trio are all in their 50s and said while they had done some running before, they were by no means athletes!
Rachel said: “As we spend most of our time in the office on computers and the telephone, getting out in the fresh air is our way of relaxing. It was a great day which we all really enjoyed it despite the rain.”

Last year, our team of over 40 Hospice at Home nurses provided over 28,000 hours of care to terminally-ill patients and their families, working day and night to give much-needed support.
