Two people talking over tea

Our new weekly drop-in service is for people affected by serious illness or bereavement.

Unfortunately, we are no longer holding a weekly drop-in at the Derby Cathedral. We are currently considering alternative venues, so please come back to our website soon for more information.

Our Support and Information team are on hand to chat about end-of-life care, bereavement help or general information about the hospice.

Julie Waite, our Support & Information Practitioner explained:

“People come to us because they want to know about our services and they’re looking at ways in which we can help them or their loved ones.”

Recent drop-in visitors include young couple Debbie and John.

“Debbie has breast cancer and has been given a poor prognosis. They were both struggling emotionally and worrying about their finances.

After a conversation over a cup of coffee, we worked out how we could support them both.

Debbie is joining our SPRING Programme and exercise classes. We also made John an appointment to see a Welfare Rights Officer. They’re both going to come back to the drop-in for ongoing support from both staff and volunteers.

We guarantee a warm welcome and a safe space in which to have open and honest conversations about how we can support you and your family.
