How Treetops Lottery Works & FAQs

What is the Treetops Lottery?

The Treetops Lottery is a weekly charity cash prize draw that provides a vital source of funding for Treetops Hospice. Since its inception in 1996, its sole purpose has been to raise money for the charity to help continue to provide care and support to people with life-limiting illnesses within the local community. All net profits from the sale of the lottery tickets go to Treetops Hospice and since 1996 the lottery has raised over £7 million for the charity.

Information About Prizes

The Treetops Lottery gives supporters the chance to win one of 13 cash prizes each week.

1st Prize of £1,000, one prize of £100 and ten prizes of £5, plus our rollover prize of £200 which can roll over each week that it isn’t won to a maximum of £10,000.

For all prizes except the rollover, computer randomly generated numbers are drawn and compared to allocated and paid for player numbers for that week’s draw, until they are matched, and the process continues until all of the guaranteed cash prizes are awarded.

The rollover draw is a little different in that the prize will only be won if the random number generated on the first go, matches an allocated and paid for player number. If no match is found, £200 is added to the rollover prize for the following week’s draw. Once the rollover prize reaches £10,000 the prize is guaranteed to be won and the system will generate random numbers until a match is found.

You can find our current rollover amount on our homepage.

What Are My Chances of Winning?

The likelihood of winning each week depends on how many entries are in the draw. As an average this year (2022), there are 13,800 entries in the draw each week.  With this amount of entries, your number would have a 1 in 1150 chance of winning any of the 12 cash prizes.

The 2nd prize is a rollover which goes up £200 every week it is not won. There are 20 unallocated numbers for every 1 paid for, which gives your number a 1 in 276,000 chance to win the rollover (assuming 13,800 entries again). If it reaches £10,000 it is guaranteed to be won and therefore the chance is the same as the rest of the prize pool above.

How Do I Enter the Treetops Lottery?

Each entry into the Treetops Lottery is £1. There are several ways you can play The Treetops Lottery;

Play as a regular weekly member – Pay by Cheque, Debit Card or by Direct Debit paid monthly, quarterly or annually from as little as £4.34 a month and ensure you never miss a draw. You will be allocated a unique lottery number for each entry that will be entered into the draw each week as long as you have a minimum of £1 credit per entry on your account. Each member can have up to 20 entries each week. You can join the Treetops Lottery online.

Each entry is £1 per week. 52 weeks = £52 / 12 monthly payments = £4.34 per month, per entry.

Buy a single ticket – Purchase individual entries for the current draw online or via our Treetops Hospice shops for £1 per entry. Find your nearest Treetops Shop here.

Whether you want to top up your membership for a bigger chance to win this week, or you want a chance to play without signing up to a membership, one-off tickets are a great, easy way to play.

Play the Superdraw – The annual Treetops Lottery Superdraw is a bumper draw usually held in March, where the prize pool is increased for one week only. All Treetops Lottery members are entered into this draw automatically if they have available credit. Tickets are also available to purchase online and the option to purchase paper tickets is posted to regular supporters inside promotional packs well before each draw. Simply return the ticket stubs and payment via post to Treetops Lottery to be entered.

Please Note: Credit Cards cannot be accepted for the purchase of entries into our lottery inline with government guidance.

How Will I Know If I Win?

Each Friday the lucky winners are chosen at random and if a Treetops Lottery member wins, the winner will be informed of their windfall either by telephone or by post. If the winning number is that of a one-off ticket, purchased from one of our retail outlets then it is the responsibility of the ticket holder to check the results of the draw and to submit a claim within 6 months of the winning draw date. Players can submit a claim online here. The winning numbers are published on this website and are also broadcast through social media, local radio, our email newsletter (Subscribe here) and the winning numbers are also displayed in our Treetops Hospice shops.
