Treetops end-of-life care home development nurses aim to assist residential care home staff to support clients to stay in their preferred place of care at the end of their lives.

Our ambition is to facilitate gold standard end of life care through supporting staff to recognise when someone is dying, ensuring effective communication, involving the client and all those important to them, providing support and delivering person-centred care with compassion.

Our Care Home Development team are registered nurses with extensive experience in caring for clients with palliative needs. We aim to work collaboratively with other members of the multidisciplinary team using our practical skills and knowledge to enhance care and empower staff to feel confident and competent to manage their client’s needs safely and effectively.

Gaining valuable knowledge and understanding to be able to provide an excellent level of end of life care to our frail elderly residents is a vital part of our service.

We feel privileged to be able to access such specialist support from such dedicated nurses and hope that the opportunities are still available to all care homes in the independent sector in the future.

This is achieved by providing personalised training to increase knowledge, sharing skills, and giving direct practical support so staff can recognise dying and plan accordingly.

Referrals to other Treetops services such as Hospice at Home and the Roaming service for additional support in the out of hours can be made where appropriate.

This service is intended to be complementary to existing community services.
