Woman smiling holding Lottery Super Draw cheque

We have raised over £17,000 from our annual Lottery Super Draw to help support local patients and their families.

The top Super Draw prize money was doubled to £2000 and won by long-standing player, Ann, from Heanor.

Ann's win came as a ‘wonderful surprise’, and she plans to donate a portion of her winnings back to us.

Proceeds from the Super Draw go towards supporting local patients and their families.

Angels in disguise

Our Hospice at Home nurses were ‘angels in disguise’ for Elizabeth Chapman and her family.

Elizabeth’s dad, Barry Plant, was diagnosed with brain cancer during the COVID pandemic.

“Dad was a strong, fit man who was independent, with a strong work ethic,” explained Elizabeth. “He was fitting boilers one minute, and unable to walk the next. It was such a difficult time for all of us.

“As a family, we decided for him to spend his final days with us at home. Treetops were supportive from the very moment we made our decision, offering advice and help that made dad's final days comfortable.

The one thing that sticks with me the most, is during my dad’s final four days. As a family we were scared, unsure and worried. Then, in walked an ‘angel’ who took us by the hand and reassured us.

“Every night, the Hospice at Home nurse would come and sit with dad and explain to us what was happening during his final moments. She comforted us, advised us, and became our friend.

It was the most difficult time I have ever experienced in my life and without Treetops help it would have been unbearable. They are an amazing charity.
