Freelance Trust Fundraiser

Hours: Six-month contract – minimum: 6 days /42 hours a year. Additional hours/an extension to contract may be available subject to funding opportunities. Payment: £300 a day (£42.85 an hour) inc. VAT To apply to voluntary funders of all sizes, mainly unrestricted income. Priority tasks include: CORE - Research and preparation of core applications. We make annual core applications in January but require additional research to identify new core funders and for these applications to be prepared for submission. OTHER OPPORTUNITIES o Research, to create and provide spreadsheet that identifies new and future funding opportunities (funder name and contact details, grant value available, cause/restriction, deadline etc). o Investigating funding opportunities identified by the hospice. o Preparing applications for submission when funders are identified Requirements You will be responsible for your own tax liabilities and must have your own resources including a trust research tool. You are not required to attend the hospice but should be available for meetings via Microsoft Teams as appropriate to support applications. You will be required to submit a work log with your invoice. To assist, Treetops can provide a list of past funders identifying any restriction, funders applied to in the last two-years identifying if core and the template core funding letter for those not requiring an application, annual accounts and annual care report. About Treetops Hospice Treetops Hospice is an adult hospice based in Risley Derbyshire it serves Southern and central Derbyshire, and neighbouring areas of Nottinghamshire – a population of c600,000 people. Unlike most hospices we do not have a bedded unit, instead our nurses care for people in their own homes, so they can die in the comfort of familiar surroundings with family around them. Our Wellbeing Team provides adults living with a life limiting illness support and advice so they can manage their condition and live independently at home for as long as possible, they also support carers and family members. We help traumatically bereaved people of all ages, providing one to one counselling, complementary therapy and for children and young people a non-verbal therapy programme. In 2023/2024 we supported more than 2,500 patients and families. This included: 1,500 people at end of life. More than 2,000 visitors attend our Wellbeing Café to receive information and support. 177 children and 400 adults receiving bereavement support. It costs over £5.7 million a year to provide Treetops services but we only get 18% from the government. The rest of our funding comes from supporters. Trust income last year was £136,000 restricted and £131,000 unrestricted of which £100,000 was a one-off grant, not to be repeated. This freelance opportunity has arisen due to a vacancy, and we are requiring cover while we decide if to appoint a salaried role or continue to manage trust funding with freelance support. Event Fundraiser

We’re looking for someone who: is outgoing, confident, and self-motivated. has contributed to event organisation (e.g. sporting, conference, hospitality or fundraising). enjoys building relationships and inspiring others. can drive and has access to a car for work. has excellent IT and organisational skills. Treetops Hospice provides end of life nursing care and emotional support for adults with life-limiting conditions, bereaved people of all ages, and their families. As an event fundraiser you will work with two Relationships Managers and an Assistant, to develop and deliver a varied event calendar including the Moonlight Walk, Treecycling, running events and challenges. Your responsibilities will be varied from assisting with event logistics to carrying out in-person promotions; stewarding supporters to coordinating an event; recruiting event volunteers to updating supporter records. This role gives you the potential to learn and develop a variety of skills and provides a strong foundation for a career in fundraising or events. Previous experience in a fundraising or event role would be advantageous but certainly is not a requirement. We know that many people from differing work backgrounds will have the transferrable skills required. For example, you may be a volunteer organiser of a park run or sporting event, organise music or social events, have a qualification in event management and looking for your first role, or have worked in sales, hospitality, or university RAG. You will be based in the office and go out into the community as needed. On occasions you will work early mornings, evenings and weekends - time will be given back for this. Treetops Hospice provides nursing and therapeutic care alongside emotional support for anyone affected by a life-limiting illness in Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. Treetops Hospice is currently recruiting a shop manager. The main purpose of the role is to generate income for the hospice and lead a team, including volunteers. The successful candidate will possess excellent customer service and communication skills, flexibility, and ability to lift, carry and sort donations within the shop. We’re recruiting a fundraiser to join our Individual Giving team. The person we are looking for will support the people who choose to leave Treetops Hospice a gift in their Will or may choose to donate to Treetops in memory of a loved one. We’re looking for someone who loves people, with a sympathetic and caring personality, who can have a sensitive conversation and be a listening ear. Our Legacy donors are incredibly important. Gifts in Wills currently helps to fund 2 in 5 Hospice at Home visits. We want to ensure that those who have chosen to leave Treetops a legacy gift know how valued they are. As part of our Legacy and In Memory team, you will help to steward these supporters by arranging events and support sessions throughout the year. You will also be fundamental in helping us to grow this income by building relationships with local solicitors, funeral homes and businesses. You will talk at local community groups, host tours of the hospice and inspire people to see how special Treetops is. You’ll need good people skills and IT skills, be organised, self-motivated and ambitious. Previous experience in a Legacy fundraising role would be advantageous but certainly is not a requirement. We know that many people from differing work backgrounds will have the transferrable skills required. This role provides a great introduction to fundraising. It will be predominantly based at the hospice in Risley, and we would be looking for the 16 hours to be split across three days, one of them to be a Monday to attend our weekly team meeting. On occasions you will work early mornings, evenings and weekends - time will be given back for this. Car owner/driver essential.
