About Treetops Hospice
Treetops Hospice is an adult hospice based in Risley Derbyshire it serves Southern and central Derbyshire, and neighbouring areas of Nottinghamshire – a population of c600,000 people.
Unlike most hospices we do not have a bedded unit, instead our nurses care for people in their own homes, so they can die in the comfort of familiar surroundings with family around them.
Our Wellbeing Team provides adults living with a life limiting illness support and advice so they can manage their condition and live independently at home for as long as possible, they also support carers and family members. We help traumatically bereaved people of all ages, providing one to one counselling, complementary therapy and for children and young people a non-verbal therapy programme.
In 2023/2024 we supported more than 2,500 patients and families. This included: 1,500 people at end of life. More than 2,000 visitors attend our Wellbeing Café to receive information and support. 177 children and 400 adults receiving bereavement support.
It costs over £5.7 million a year to provide Treetops services but we only get 18% from the government. The rest of our funding comes from supporters. Trust income last year was £136,000 restricted and £131,000 unrestricted of which £100,000 was a one-off grant, not to be repeated.
This freelance opportunity has arisen due to a vacancy, and we are requiring cover while we decide if to appoint a salaried role or continue to manage trust funding with freelance support.
