More local families to benefit as Treetops expands overnight hospice care

More local people facing the end of life will be able to receive expert overnight care in the comfort of their own homes, due to an expansion of Treetops Hospice’s services.
The hospice’s Roaming Service delivers responsive palliative care in the community, enabling patients to remain in their preferred place of care, and often preventing unnecessary hospital admissions.
Following the expansion, Treetops’ nurses will now operate throughout the night and into the morning, providing expert assessments, symptom management, and practical advice and support to patients, families and carers.
The development is a key part of Treetops’ three-year strategy, Crafting the Future of Hospice Care, which outlines plans to strengthen specialist skills, expand community-based clinical services and eventually progress towards a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week model of care.
Ali Jordan, Head of Integrated Clinical Services at Treetops Hospice, said: “The expansion of our Roaming Service is an important step forward as we continue to ensure patients can access timely, compassionate palliative care whenever it is needed.
“Our aim will always be to reach as many people as possible with high-quality care, delivered in partnership with health providers, and to ensure every person in our region receives the personalised support they deserve.”
John Knight, Chief Executive at Treetops Hospice, added: “We believe the national shift towards delivering more care in the community aligns perfectly with how Treetops has always operated.
“At a time when hospices across the UK continue to face significant challenges and with increasing pressure on hospital services, this expansion demonstrates our commitment and investment of charity funds to meet growing local need.”
