This is a rewarding community-based role where you will support individuals and their families at the most important time of their lives, helping them remain at home with dignity, comfort and choice. About the Role You will deliver skilled, holistic nursing care to patients with life-limiting illness, working autonomously and in partnership with GPs, District Nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team. You will also support families, contribute to service coordination, and help ensure a responsive, compassionate service. Key Responsibilities Provide compassionate end-of-life nursing care in patients’ homes Assess, plan and deliver individualised care, including symptom management Administer medications and manage clinical interventions (e.g. syringe drivers, catheter care) Offer emotional support and guidance to patients and carers. Provide Cover and Support for Wellbeing Services. We are now seeking Two Senior Counsellors to play pivotal roles on the Nightingale Macmillan Unit, supporting adults with life‑limiting illness and the families and staff who walk alongside them. This is a rare opportunity to bring your advanced counselling skills, leadership capability and trauma‑informed approach into a dynamic inpatient palliative care setting, where relationships are deep, work is meaningful, and your impact is immediate. This senior clinical role provides advanced assessment and specialist trauma-informed therapeutic support to adults with life‑limiting illness, as well as to families experiencing anticipatory grief. You will work closely within the MDT, contributing to psychologically safe, trauma‑informed care in a fast‑paced inpatient hospice environment. You will also play a key leadership role, supporting counselling allocation and prioritisation, contributing to clinical governance, and leading reflective practice and staff debriefs following emotionally challenging events. The Treetops Lottery is a highly successful form of fundraising for us. Since 1996, the Treetops Lottery and the people that play, have helped to raise over £8million for hospice care. We are looking to expand the team. Main Purpose: To promote Treetops lottery to the public through Door to Door promotions, at events, static venues and Treetops shops. To increase lottery memberships through these promotions. Key Responsibilities: Door to door promotions in the local area to raise awareness of the services that our charity provides Handing out leaflets & giving information about the lottery and the Hospice to the public at allocated venues & events Enlisting new members to the lottery by way of regular giving through monthly direct debits An induction and full training will be given for these activities. We are looking for motivated and passionate persons with previous experience working as a healthcare assistant to join our expanding Hospice at Home Team. The ideal person would already have experience working in the community setting with patients at the end-of-life. The successful applicant will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, providing palliative and end-of-life care to patients and families in the community. Our approach is predominantly one-to-one night shifts, so you will often be working independently using your own initiative in line with patient need and Registered Nurse support, and on occasions you may be required to work as part of a team on the Roaming Service. The applicants need to have NVQ Level 2 or above in Health and Social Care and must be enthusiastic, flexible, and have a passion for palliative and end-of-life care. We are looking for individuals who have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and who demonstrate a caring, empathetic and compassionate nature. We work predominantly across South Derbyshire, covering areas from Swadlincote and up towards Matlock. We particularly encourage applicants who live on the outskirts of South Derbyshire (Ashbourne and Swadlincote), although we welcome people within our catchment area. This role involves working night shifts (22:00-07.00), including weekends and bank holidays. Our night staff currently self-rosters to ensure a good work-life balance is maintained. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential, as you will be travelling across the community within the hospice’s catchment area. The main purpose of the role is to generate income for the hospice and lead a team, including volunteers.
