Derbyshire County Cricket Club teams up with Treetops Hospice to boost community support for local families

Treetops Hospice has announced a new partnership with Derbyshire County Cricket Club (DCCC), bringing together two long‑established Derbyshire organisations with strong roots in the local community.

A key part of the partnership is Treetops’ sponsorship of Derbyshire cricket player Lara Shaw, recently named Derbyshire Women’s Batter of the Year for two consecutive seasons.

Natalie Godrich, Relationships Manager at Treetops Hospice, said: “Women’s cricket is growing rapidly, but many players still don’t receive the recognition or sponsorship they deserve. We’re proud to support Lara and help champion the women’s game in Derbyshire.

“Her talent, dedication and achievements make her a fantastic ambassador for the sport and for our community.”

Lara Shaw said: “I’m incredibly grateful for Treetops’ support. Knowing a local charity believes in me and in the women’s game means a great deal.

“I’m proud to represent Derbyshire and to be linked with an organisation that does so much for families in our county.”

As part of the wider partnership, Treetops Hospice will also be advertising at The OurCoop County Ground during the 2024/25 season, including on the club’s big screen and pitch‑side board. The visibility aims to raise awareness of the charity’s vital services among thousands of supporters.

Natalie added: “Derbyshire County Cricket Club is one of the most recognisable and well‑loved sports organisations in the county, and both of us play such important roles in our local communities in different ways.

“If our partnership helps even one family discover the support available from Treetops at a time when they need us most, then it has achieved exactly what we hoped.”

Treetops’ new mascot, Remy the Robin, will also make a special appearance at the DCCC Falcons Family Day on Sunday 12 July. The event will feature inflatables, face painting, circus activities and live music in the Falcons FanZone. Remy will take on fellow local mascots in the brand new ‘mascot race’ before supporters enjoy the T20 match and a post‑game meet and greet with Falcons players.

DCCC has also generously donated a selection of Family Day tickets for Treetops to offer to families it supports.

The partnership aims to increase awareness of the hospice’s services while supporting community events and grassroots sport across Derbyshire.
